The long weekend is wrapping up, and I hope you had as great a time as I did! I had a much busier weekend than anticipated, so I wasn't able to photograph all the clothes I intend to wear over the next 14 days; however, I wanted to show you my completed worksheet and post a sample two-week capsule to get your ideas flowing.
If you didn't get a chance to fill out this worksheet, now is the time to do it!
You'll see that it takes about five minutes, including checking the calendar and weather forecast. This does not need to be an in-depth exercise -- we'll save that for later! I've posted my responses so you can see just how easy this is, and that typos are ok for this quick task! (Click on the sample worksheet to enlarge.)
In the Bay Area, September is often the hottest part of the year (although we've had a warmer summer than usual.) It might be cooling down where you live, but the next few days around here will be in the 90's where I work. It is usually about ten degrees cooler where I live, so I have to always have a light layer when the weather drops a bit. I took the weather into consideration during my planning, as well as an amazing pop-up party that requires white clothing. My off-white dress is the only item I needed to be sure was in my capsule, but I will be able to wear it to another dinner if needed.
I work in a very causal environment, so your capsule may need to include a pair of slacks or a dressier skirt or dress. I also encourage you to think about how you can layer dresses, light sweaters, and tops to create more work-appropriate outfits. I chose the pieces below because they are comfortable, versatile, and good for hot weather. It is often not convenient for me to wear heels, but you probably want to throw in a pair if you need a more polished look.
3 dresses, 1 cardigan, 4 shoes, 3 bags = 12 outfits
Pretty amazing. Although you'd likely want to mix-up your daily wardrobe more than this, these 3 dresses illustrate how many options you have. Plus, not all bag and shoe combos have been exhausted!
